The Parable of the Critical Eye..

Hello 👋 😁 & Welcome!

Today’s word is about deliverance from fault finding and being critical towards one another as the enemy is the accuser of the brethren. In the book of Matthew Jesus was making the point that we are far more tolerant of our own sins than we are to the sins of others.

Matthew 7:3

“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”

In this parable Jesus doesn't say that it is wrong for us to want to help others but he is saying, for us to examine our own lives first and deal with our own personal hang ups. Jesus is our one true example and only measuring stick. We are never to be in comparison with our neighbor as it minimizes the wonderful working power God is performing inside each one of our lives. Our relationship, journey and race is solely between you and God as it doesn’t involve anyone else. Yet, it has been uniquely designed and created for you with all your God-given natural talents and abilities and your true purpose is to walk into your destiny.

Although we can easily see the other person’s faults, we are often blind to our own. For most of us, it is hard to shift the focus from others to ourselves. Ask God to help us to see ourselves clearly. We all sin differently and because of sin Jesus came to deliver us as we we’re in need of a Savior. He knew exactly what he was getting when he became in relationship with us. So, none of us are a surprise to God. The Bible is there for our correction, instruction and reproof in righteousness and as such it’s not there to show blame or disapproval but to be Christ like as he offers us all his unconditional love while we were yet sinners Christ died for the ungodly.

Galatians 6:1

“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

Jesus reminds us that we often pass judgment on others to keep from examining ourselves. In fact, it is obnoxiously wrong in God's eyes as It's ridiculous for us to spend so much time finding all the little things that are wrong with others while we ignore our own shortcomings: weaknesses, sins, and inconsistencies, and then we can lovingly and humbly try to help others with their frailties.

🙏 Dear Gracious Heavenly Father,

“We thank you for the strong word that came forth today, that it was given to help us change and not to hurt us. Lord, you have been so patient and mindful of each one of us. You have redeemed us and provided Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice that purifies us all from sin. You sent your Holy Spirit to help in dwell inside us and complete your work of maturity. Please bless us as we continue to die to this flesh and walk in the spirit in truth and honesty. Father God, help everyone under the sound of my voice and including myself to live a life that pleases you and to be forthcoming when we sin, have a misstep or choose wrong that we would be quick to repent and change our course as you redirect us. We ask that you would cover us under the blood of Christ and not allow Satan to gain a stronghold of an advantage over us through discouragement, condemnation, embarrassment in the hopes to alienate us from your presence. Please work in the lives of your people here today and produce your godly characters that we may be called sons & daughters of God. We stand on Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” We decree and declare the work has been done at Calvary and we proclaim the forgiveness of our sins, so that we may in turn show forgiveness to those who trespass against us. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen!”

In His Grip,

Pastor Wendy Schenkel
