Light of Hope

Updated: Apr 1

Often times we go through situations that have us feeling lost, confused and alone like nobody is there. Remember, when friends and family forsake you God is always right there by your side and he'll never leave you alone. The wilderness realm can feel lonely at times. Yet God will give you the strength and endurance to press through to the other side. If you will not quit, you can win. John 16:33 says, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Psalms 37:23

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in His way."

The word Guidance is defined as to give advice or information aimed at resolving a problem or difficulty, especially as given by someone in authority.

The word Light is used to symbolize God, faith and Holiness throughout scriptures. However, to gain a better understanding and interpretation of the positive notion light has in the Bible we're going to look at a few delightful passages.

Psalms 119:105

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

Matthew 4:16

"The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up."

Matthew 5:16

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

John 1:5

"And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

John 8:12

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

God is the good shepherd, who leads his flock in the right direction. Like a lighthouse shining in the darkness to show us the way to safety.

Psalms 23:1

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

The answers are found in the living word of God. The Bible has the answers for everything we face. The (B.I.B.L.E.) acronym, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.

When Jesus was doing the sermon on the mount, he said an important verse that shows us how to ask God for guidance.

Matthew 6:9-13

"Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

Let us break down this prayer:

Our father: God is our father. Father not only to Christ, but to all his children. We pray to God as brothers and sisters to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Who art in Heaven: God dwells in Heaven, but that doesn't mean that He is distant from us. As our creator he is above all creation because he formed us into existence with just a word. God is Omnipresence which means, all-present. This term means God is capable of being everywhere at the same time. It means his divine presence encompasses the whole of the universe. There is no specific location where he does not inhabit because there's an all seeing eye, watching you. He is Everywhere!!

Hallowed be thy name: To "hallow" is to make holy. God's name is holy and shouldn't be taken in vein. As Christians, we honor and reverence God's name as holy because we acknowledge His holiness as it draws us into the right fellowship with him.

Thy kingdom come: God's Kingdom is eternal and he's coming back for his people. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven: God has the highest order and his perfect Will shall be done accordingly, to his divine purpose. In Luke 22:42 "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, will be done." Jesus was experiencing real emotions, he was human, he didn't want to go to the cross, but he knew God's will. God sent Jesus to die for all the sins of the world so we could have a personal relationship with him. We're no surprise to him and he knew what he was getting when he got into relationship with us. So, no matter the circumstance you find yourself in today know in your heart that God loves and accepts you. Learn to forgive yourself, embrace God's love for you and stop allowing the enemy to use people to bring condemnation inside your life. You tell that devil, you are a child of the most high and you been redeemed by the blood of the lamb. Pick yourself up from this day forward as God has a good plan for your life.

Give us this day our daily bread: This passage is in reference of our physical and spiritual needs as well. The Lord is mindful of what we need even before we ask. He shall supply all our needs according to his riches in glory. So, do not fret. The word "bread" gives us life and is the word of God. We need to get "fed" every day, meaning that we need to spend time daily reading, praying, fasting and seeking his face and not his hand. When we do he promised, all these things shall be added unto you. Pressed down, shaken together and running over.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors: The parable of the unforgiving debtor is a good example we can all glean from and make it applicable inside our lives.

Matthew 18:21-35

21: Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22: Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. 23: Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. 24: And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

10,000 talents: (375 tons, 340 metric tons of silver) 25: But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26: The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 27: Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

28: But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. 29: And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 30: And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. 31: So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. 32: Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: 33: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

34: And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 35: So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

We are taught to forgive others because God has forgiven us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: God doesn't tempt us, temptation comes from the devil as we are snared by our own lustful desires in our flesh. When we get tempted, we need to pray and ask God for help and deliver us from evil and carnality.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever: This part of the prayer means that heaven will last for eternity and will always be God's. God is the power and his glory is forever and ever.

Amen: means "So be it!" We are coming into agreement with the Will of God and aligning ourselves in accordance to the Word. When we do that God can release his Supernatural power into our lives and open doors no man can shut.

It is my prayer this message will uplift, inspire and encouraged you today. Until next time (P.U.S.H.) Pray Until Something Happens.

God Bless,

Rev. William Schenkel
